Let me tell you what else I have so you might get an idea of what I am talking about. I have a 1938 Gibson LOO, a National Style O, a National El Trovador, a Martin OM-16Gt, and a Recording King ROS 626. This Washburn Parlor is by far the cheapest guitar of them all, but it has stolen more than it's fair share of playin' time from the big boys. The workmanship seems excellent to me. The intonation is nearly perfect...just plays wonderfully in tune up the neck. Since I am primarily a blues finger-picker, I love the funky sound of this guitar. If you are a flat picking dreadnaught lover, I'd advise you to stop reading here now and click somewhere else because this guitar is not for you. It's got a fat neck and is wide at the nut which I love. It has no pick guard, but I pilfered an iphone screen guard that just barely sticks on the wood to protect it from my plastic finger picks. I literally ordered, played and returned three other competing parlors before I found this one. Currently have (or have owned) a number of much more expensive instruments from Fender, Taylor, Gibson and even ESP. I understand quality and am picky about my guitars. This little beauty has become one of my favorites. All wood construction. Nice inlays on the fretboard. Cool distressed body treatment with nice detailing throughout. The sound projection isn't loud, but the tone is exceptional for a $500 price range guitar. The more I play it, the better it sounds. The back of the neck is angular, but the guitar is really easy to play. My only complaint is the tuners could be better. Still, this is the guitar that I reach for more often than all others. Have had this for about a year with no troubles. Highly recommended. |
