This review is from: Cordoba Solista Classical Guitar, CD/IN (Electronics)
Ive' been looking to upgrade for over a year - playing every guitar I could get my hands on. There is no guestion; the Cordoba Solista is head and shoulders above any in its price range and superior to many at twice the price. The tone is even, the action responsive, and the workmanship and materials are first rate. And it even comes with a HumiCase which allows Cordoba to stand behind it for life. I am completely satisfied with mine Cordoba Solista Classical Guitar, CD/IN.Of course all reviews are fine to read, but the proof is in the playing. This is one guitar that's worth a try!

Taylor Nylon-Strings Taylor's take on the classical guitar sound is a nylon-string with a bit of twist. Think of it as classical tone meets Taylor playability, beginning with a slim and fast 1 7/8-inch neck. Available in sapele, ovangkol, maple, and Indian rosewood--in either a Grand Concert or Grand Auditorium body. Explore a new tone from Taylor.
Sitka Spruce Top Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) grows in a coastal "pocket" from Northern California to Alaska. This dense, straight-grained wood has the highest strength and elasticity-to-weight ratio among available tonewoods, an attribute that makes it an ideal material not only for our soundboards, but for our internal bracing, as well. Sitka produces a slightly brighter tone than does Engelmann.
Indian Rosewood Laminate Back/Sides Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) is coveted by players and guitar builders alike for its dark, luxurious coloration, which ranges from brown to purple to rose to black, and for tonal characteristics that include a strong bass response and long sustain. It remains the most popular tonewood used in the making of high-quality acoustic guitars.
Grand Auditorium Body Shape The Grand Auditorium was the first guitar shape designed from scratch by Bob Taylor. It was unveiled to commemorate the company's 20th Anniversary in 1994, and since then it has more than lived up to its promise. Although the GA has the width and depth of a Dreadnought, its narrower waist gives it the appearance of a smaller instrument, adds treble "zing" across the guitar's tonal spectrum, sharpens the definition of individual notes, and also enables it to rest comfortably in the lap. Because we remove mass from the width of the GA's braces, the guitar top moves faster, resulting in a snappy, bell-like tone. The GA, available as a 6- or 12-sting, is designed to be a strong fingerpicking guitar that also can handle medium strumming, and is exceptionally versatile.
Venetian Cutaway The cutaway allows access to the upper frets. Many players moving to acoustic guitars grew accustomed to the cutaways on their electric guitars. Others simply like the freedom of movement into the upper register that a cutaway allows. Nowadays, cutaways are favored as much for their decorative appeal as for their function. The Venetian cutaway is known for its soft, round lines. The sloping peak of the cutaway will vary depending on the shape of the guitar. Grand Concerts and Grand Auditoriums have a steeper slope, while Dreadnoughts and Jumbos are a bit flatter.
ES-T Pickup Inspired by Taylor's Expression System technology, the Expression System Transducer, or ES-T, is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. (The ES-T was originally called the ES Element, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with another product.) The ES-T has an onboard preamp and the same active controls found on the full Expression System. Featuring a custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response, the system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator (which is lit when the battery is being used). The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole.

This is the first Taylor guitar I have owned. I always heard people say you can never go wrong with a Taylor and I never met a Taylor owner who wasn't satisfied. I bought this guitar to have something different from my steel string guitars. I regularly play with other adults and we play all styles of music, including bossa nova and jazz. I have a nearly 40 year old Fender classical guitar that I use to play those styles of music and since I enjoyed those styles, I started looking for a new nylon string guitar. I stumbled upon this guitar at Guitar Center and was immediately impresed by its sweet sound, however, the price was a bit steep, nearly double the price of some nice classical acoustic electric guitars, but it is a Taylor, so I decided to make the purchase after trying some other guitars.
If you want a traditional classical guitar, then this is not the guitar for you because it is a hybrid, with a neck slightly wider than a steel string guitar, but definitely... Read more

I saw this guitar in my local music store and fell in love with it. Mine has really dark, purplish-black, back and side woods and the top is a sweet clean blonde color. My wife was with me and saw how much I really liked this guitar and talked me into buying it (Really!) because I knew we couldn't afford it at the time. I thank her everyday for her insistance. I am keeping them both! Great neck, sounds fantastic unplugged and plugged both. Sadley this model is being fazed out and the new 214 model that is replacing it has been changed. The top on those is now gloss and the gloss finish in my opinion is thicker and chokes some of the freedom of the top to resonate, though it is prettier to some folks. These also come with a deluxe hardshell case and the new 214 models don't they have a soft side bag. If you are looking for a fantastic nylon string guitar this is it. That means alot coming from me as I was a die hard Martin fan. let's just say I now live divided! Thanks Bob! (Taylor)... Read more

I have numerous guitars. A Takamine 12 string, a 1993 Taylor 422 R, a 1971 Les Paul and now this guitar.
I consider myself an intermediate guitar player. I play for ME and my enjoyment. This is the first nylon string guitar that I've ever owned although I have played other ones.
Quality is typical to most Taylor guitars. Wonderful. I find that they just seem to spend more time making certain that they've got things right before they go out the door.
What this guitar did for me was to get me more interested in music and more interested in pursuing other forms of guitar music. I can truly say that the guitar has been an inspiration.
If you're looking for something with rich, mellow tones, you'll love this.

Love this guitar, plays great, sounds great - built in tuner and EQ is very handy. I have tried a bunch of different guitars at this price level and this was best bar none. It plays like a much more expensive Taylor or Martin guitar at a much nicer price. The case that came with it fits it well and is sturdy. The stand is a run of the mill guitar stand, nothing special but it's just a bonus anyway at this price!
