Seagull S6 Original Left QI Guitar

Product Description

The Seagull S6 Guitar for Left-Handed Guitarists --The Original, Updated with Godin QI

Winner of several awards, the S6 is perhaps the instrument that best represents the Seagull philosophy. The S6 offers entry level players the opportunity to experience the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand finished neck, select solid Cedar top and a Custom Polished Finish.

The back and sides are constructed of wild cherry, the neck of silver-leaf maple, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

Seagull guitars all feature Tusq nuts and saddles. The fully compensated saddle helps the Seagull S6 original acoustic guitar play beautifully in-tune all over the neck.

This model of he Seagull S6 Original QI is designed with the left-handed guiarist in mind.

About the Godin QI

The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy to use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.

The Godin QI also includes a built-in high quality digital chromatic tuner with LED display.

Operating Suggestions
Before plugging in for the first time, adjust Quantum volume to minimum (fully counterclockwise) and set bass and treble at midrange. Plug into endpin jack and amplifier. Increase volume slowly to desired level. Adjust bass and treble to desired level.

The Seagull Original Guitar Series

The guitars that make up the Seagull Original series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Original series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also a choice. Original series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.

All Seagull Guitars Feature Reverse Headstocks

Each Seagull neck starts out as a single piece of Mahogany or Silver Leaf Maple. The wood is cut at a 45 degree angle after which the top piece - the Headstock - is glued back on with the grain reversed. This is an essential step in the Seagull process for creating incredibly stable necks.

More About Seagull Guitars

The Seagull story wouldn't be complete without mentioning La Patrie. La Patrie is a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This is where the first Seagulls were made in the early eighties. Today, La Patrie has a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. These folks take a great deal of pride in the guitars they build.

I thought this was a mistake when I first saw it. A seagull s6 original itself costs about $100 more. The electronics are great, and the right handed version of this guitar is priced about $200 more. This left handed guitar isn't even shown on guitarcenter. An amazing price and and amazing guitar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guitar, June 8, 2011

Although I am a beginner, the sound that comes from this cedar top is wonderful. I researched left handed guitars for months. Went to many forums online. For the price and the built in tuner and ability to plug into a amp, it's a great value. Better to have the electronic and not need versus need and not have is the way I looked. At it. I knew I wanted cedar top for it's mellow tone instead of a spruce top, which sounds too high in treble. Sort of like a classical guitar only with steel strings. The cedar used in seagull guitars, made in Canada, are over 800 years old. Plus I don't buy products from china if I don't have to. Would have bought American guitar, but those are a little pricey for a beginner. I will have my Taylor or Martin if I can prove that I deserve it. Buying from amazon is the way to go, even if you pay a few dollars more, which I didn't, just for the fact of how easy returns are. They stick by what they sell, no hassles. That's the way this 56 year old prefers it.

4.0 out of 5 stars good value, July 13, 2012

I've had this guitar for 7 months. Well made, good finish, plays well. Back and sides are a bit garish, wild cherry with prominent wavy grain. Unplugged tone and volume are OK, a bit weak. Electronics are good. Fingerboard/neck width is wider than a standard acoustic, about 47.5mm vs 44mm at 1st fret. Overall a good value, well-made guitar with electronics.
