Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QIT Acoustic-Electric Guitar Rustic Reviews

I went in looking for a great guitar at a great price, and while I was open to veer away from my coveted Seagull-made guitars if the right deal were to be available, I simply couldn't do it. I tried out a bunch of different guitars in my price range, and the Seagull Entourage Rustic CW QI(T) won, hands down. First of all, the tuning machines are basically the solid chrome Ping tuning machine heads disguised with Seagull logos. I love this because I am very picky about my tuning machines and often swap out my guitars' machine heads for said Ping parts. Next, the nut width of the neck is narrower than the standard Seagull nut width, which makes it more comparable to a Martin or Taylor or something of that nature. This makes the transition for a non-Seagull acoustic player a little smoother. Third, the action is comfortable, but not too comfortable. If the action is too low and too easy to push down, sound is compromised, this is not so here. I... I looked around for a few weeks and tried different brands; Breedlove, Martin, Yamaha..etc.etc. Then one day I saw this Seagull hanging on a wall at Guitar Center - I picked it up and was very impressed. Not having heard of the brand before I wanted to do a little reseacrh before buying. I found the Seagull web site was a wealth of information. They truely believe in quality over flashy paintjobs and coats of lacquer. At this price point you can either have a guitar that looks great or that plays great and Seagull plays very very well. The Rustic looks fits well and the waxed finish adds to the charm while keeping the cost low. It has a nice range with considerable bass; the action is wonderful providing you take off the strings it ships with and put on some martins of your liking. The QIT works great and looks right on the guitar. All in all its a beautiful instrument crafted by a small company thats big on... For the price this guitar is a steal. I compared this guitar with the Taylor 710 and Martin DXME, and many other brands/models. In my opinion the Seagull is a better sounding and quality guitar - although the Taylor 710 was pretty good. After playing 40 or so guitars at the store, the Seagull was the best acoustic guitar under $1000. The first guitar that began to sound better than the Entourage was the Martin D-16GT - at this price point you will start to find better sounding guitars than the Entourage. To me this shows the craftsmanship, quality and care that are put into the Seagulls. The Entourage without the pickup or cutway plays just as good for around $300 which is something to consider. The Entourage also stays in tune for a rather long time. I have heard in some other forums people gripping... Read more |
