This is the perfect size for him and after a week or two he learned how to hold it and strum it. It didn't make much sound when we got it- the strings needed to be tightened. They don't seem like they are tightening but they are, it just moves very little at a time! Great purchase, he's a rough and tumble boy and this thing has taken a beating without any damage so far! 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful This review is from: Cars CR285 Mini Guitar (Electronics) This is actually a soprano ukulele. That out of the way, it is an excellent first instrument for a young child: sturdy plastic, inexpensive, and when tuned properly, relatively quiet. You really can tune this guitar and get the notes you need to have in order for this to be an actual teaching instrument. It's plastic, yes, but it's very well made and the way my son has strummed it the last few days, it's definitely durable. I can see how other reviewers said it could be restrung, since the tuning keys seem to be sturdy and willing to hold up like a real guitar would. I would highly recommend this product, especially if your child shows any musical interest at all. Our son has been strumming away for days now and he has been making up his own songs too. It has...
